Christian Social Responsibility
It is the mission of the Board of Christian Social Responsibility to remind us that we are called by Jesus to be his messengers of peace and justice in the world, locally, nationally and globally and to plan programs to further the cause of peace and justice in the world.
“What does the Lord require of us, but to do justice, to love mercy and to walk humbly with our God.”
Micah 6:8

Souper Group
Our faithful and devoted “souper” cooks are in their 24th year of preparing a variety of soups for the Interfaith Nutritional Network (INN) in Freeport. We meet the first and third Friday of each month, with group members contributing and preparing the vegetables and meats while enjoying fellowship. Sharing a meal together at the end of the day is a special treat.

The White Gift Pageant
Each Advent season, the Board of Christian Education of United Church presents the White Gift Pageant. This telling of the Christmas story is dramatized by our young people and adults in full costume and is highlighted by the singing of carols and an offering of gifts by the congregation.
In keeping with a long held tradition of giving, the Board of Missions arranges for the gifts to be sent to local charitable organizations. Gifts of new toys, books, and clothing for both adults and children are given as a special way to brighten the season for many.
Our pageant provides an important opportunity to get in touch with the true meaning of Christmas. It is a meaningful way to observe the Advent season, to experience the story of the birth of Jesus, and to share our Christmas Blessings with others.
